Artifact Uprising is, hands down, my absolute favorite printing company. I have been ‘drooling over’ their instagram feed for about a year now since all of their images are so beautiful and compelling. My greatest passions are photography and travel, so their account definitely feeds my wanderlust.

This month I finally placed an order with their company (for a hardcover photo book and a set of lovely square prints). I was, of course, hoping my order would turn out well, but I definitely did not expect my images to turn out fantastic as they did Artifact Uprising did an amazing job printing my photographs, and I am so excited to review their company for you. They easily get a rating of five stars from me. Here’s why:

Book Layout

There are numerous reasons to commend Artifact Uprising. One of the biggest reasons I love this company, though, is due to their minimalistic approach. Unlike so many printing companies, their books are not filled with colorful pages, busy designs or catchy phrases. Each page is straightforward and effortless in design. To some, this might make their books seem boring. But to me, this “lack” of color and showy layout is what makes their books dynamic. The simplicity of their pages gives each image center stage, allowing every image to catch your eye and interest.

Now don’t get me wrong. I do like the colorful scrapbook layouts that a lot of companies offer. These are perfect for albums of family vacations, birthdays and so forth. Artifact Uprising, however, has hit the nail when it comes to displaying photographs in a professional manner. So saying, if you are looking to print an album of wedding pictures, want a gorgeous photo book that you can use as a portfolio, or are simply an avid admirer of minimalism, then Artifact Uprising is the way to go.

Print Quality

Another reason why I love Artifact Uprising is because of the exceptional quality of their printing. I don’t know what inks or print system they use, but whatever it is, it works wonders. All of my images came out vibrant, clear, and true to color. I expected my photographs to look inferior to the way they appear on my computer screen, but that is not the case at all. They look beautiful!

The paper the company prints on is great as well. For their hardcover books, they use 100% recycled, matte-finished paper. Sometimes matte paper can make images look dull, but theirs had the opposite effect on my images’ appearance. The dust jacket is also made with matte paper. Although, unlike the book pages, it has a smooth finish that gives it a soft feeling. I love the way it feels in my hands. For their square print sets, they use 120 lb, matte-finished, textured paper. On this paper, my images came out in colors slightly different than shown on my computer. This is not a bad thing, though. The texture on the paper and its eggshell color just give the images a retro feel, and since I love all things vintage, this is fine by me. If, however, you do not like textured paper, Artifact Uprising also has fine art prints that are inkjet on smooth matte paper. This company has something for everyone!

Note: For best results, follow their file specifications when saving your images and uploading them to their editor. Having your images in the recommended file size and color space will ensure that your images come out clear and bright.

Production 

Lastly, Artifact Uprising’s production time is something I think would please anyone. For their hardcover books, production only takes five business days. For smaller projects like the square print set, production only takes two business days. I really appreciate their fast turn around because I received my prints only four days after placing my order and my book but twelve days after ordering. That, mind you, wasn’t even with rush shipping!
