Slovenia. A little paradise I was not expecting to find.
If there is a European country that is underrated, it is surely Slovenia. To say that I fell in love unexpectedly would be an understatement. After spending months traveling about Europe in 2019, I thought I knew what to anticipate from this little country, but I was happily surprised.
Situated on the Mediterranean, Slovenia is a swimming paradise – and not just for its warm, crystal clear water. Slovenia is also one of the most charming and relaxing countries I have been to because it feels untouched by tourism.
I visited in August, a month that is still very much the heart of travel season, and there were really no tourists at any location I ventured to. Whereas the city I had just left – Venice – was flooded with people at every corner. Need I say more?
Visit those touristic cities of Europe. They are popular for a reason. But do not miss out on the romantic tranquility of a less traveled country such as Slovenia.
I would also like to point out that the photos I am showing you are simply a taste. As I had just a few days here because I was on my way to Croatia (you can read my guide of Croatia here), I only visited the Capitol – Llublijana – and Piran. I will definitely be retuning someday to visit the famous Lake Bled, though.
Oh, how I would love to be back here…
